District Festivals

In Asciano, there's a super fun and much-loved festival: the Palio dei Ciuchi! It’s called that because… yes, the race is run with donkeys!                            The seven Contrade – Corona, Corso, Pergola, Piazza del Grano, Prato, Stazione, and Tranquilla – compete every year on the second Sunday of September in a race full of excitement, color, and wild cheering.                                 All the contradaioli (district supporters) cheer with their hearts pounding, hoping their donkey will win the long-awaited Palio!
